Basic Information
All applicants are reminded that effective preparation for the selection and assessment process is a key step in increasing your chances of success. All applicants are advised to read this guidance as well as the guidance note and role profile that will accompany the application form when you start the process.
Completing your application form
Before you start:
- Read carefully. Review the role profile and any supporting documents so you understand what's required.
- Check your eligibility. Make sure you meet all essential criteria, e.g., qualifications, experience, location.
- Allow plenty of time. Note the key dates, notably the application submission date and the interview period. The online application portal closes automatically at the stated deadline.
- Gather your research. No doubt you will have been thinking of a judicial career for some time and we expect you have researched the type of roles as well as the jurisdiction/chamber that are suited to your skill set. Ensure you have any relevant data, thoughts and research to hand, and that you can refer to this when considering your answers.
Accessing the online form:
- Register with a valid email address you check regularly - this will be used for all correspondence.
- If you don't receive a confirmation email after submitting your application, contact the business management unit (you can email mailbox@jabs.gov.scot or call 0131 244 3131).
- The online application form doesn't check spelling or grammar - draft your answers in MS Word (or similar) first then paste them into the online system.
