Appointment of a Legal Member (Solicitor) and a Lay Member

The Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland (JABS) is an advisory body that plays a key role in ensuring an open and transparent selection process based on merit for specific judicial appointments.

 The Board’s aims are:

    • To attract applicants of the highest calibre, recognising the need to encourage diversity in the range of those available for selection, and
    • To recommend applicants for appointment to judicial office on merit through processes that are fair, transparent and command respect.

We are looking to appoint a Solicitor Member and a Lay Member to the Board. Lay Members must be resident in Scotland and must not be members, or former members, of the judiciary or practising advocates or solicitors in Scotland. Solicitor Members must be solicitors practising in Scotland.
