Board Member Changes

The Cabinet Secretary for Justice and Home Affairs has appointed Denise Loney as a temporary legal member of the Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland until no later than 7 December 2023 or until the absent member returns to the Board.  Ms Loney has been a solicitor in private practice for over 30 years with extensive experience in the fields of commercial litigation and debt recovery.  She has former appointments with both the Scottish Legal Aid Board and the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission.

 

The Lord President has also appointed Sheriff Principal Kate Dowdalls KC to the Board replacing Sheriff Principal Aisha Anwar following the latter’s appointment as President of the Sheriff Appeal Court. Sheriff Principal Dowdalls spent 13 years as a solicitor before being admitted to the Faculty of Advocates in 2000 and taking silk in 2013.
