Later this year, the Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland (JABS) will be launching competitions seeking applications from suitably qualified individuals for the following offices:
- Sheriff Principal of Grampian, Highlands and Islands
- Chair of the Parole Board for Scotland
Both of these roles will offer the opportunity to get involved in the delivery of Justice in Scotland.
To be eligible to apply for the Office of Sheriff Principal you must, immediately before appointment:
- Hold any other judicial office as set out in Section 14 of the Courts Reform (Scotland) Act 2014, or
- Be legally qualified as either a solicitor or advocate for a period of 10 years
To be eligible to apply for the Office of Chair of the Parole Board for Scotland you must:
- Be a solicitor or advocate of not less than 10 years standing, or
- Be a current or former Senator of the College of Justice, or
- Be a current or former Sheriff Principal, Sheriff or Summary Sheriff.
JABS will be holding information events in support of both roles, details of those will be announced shortly.
