The Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland (JABS) will soon open a competition inviting applications for appointment to the Office of Sheriff.
Sheriffs play a central role in the administration of justice in Scotland. They hear a broad range of criminal and civil cases and make decisions that affect individuals, families, businesses and communities across the country.
JABS is committed to selecting candidates solely on merit while encouraging applications from people with diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. We believe that a judiciary that reflects the society it serves helps maintain public confidence in the justice system.
The forthcoming competition will provide eligible candidates with an opportunity to contribute to Scotland's justice system through judicial service.
Full details of the competition, including eligibility criteria, guidance for applicants, key dates and supporting information, will be published when the competition opens.
Interested candidates are encouraged to monitor the JABS website and social media channels for further announcements.
